2020 Street & Utilities Improvements

Between MnDOT, County, City and the Watershed there are 8 different projects happening in the vicinity of Thief River Falls. MnDOT has coordinated with the other agencies in order to limit the overall impacts through staging and shared detours. Once the project begins there will be weekly coordination meetings that are open to the public and they will also be available online for those that can't attend in person.

Visit the MnDOT website to learn more about each of the projects and to sign up for email updates. Click here for specific project information.

Franklin Middle School Multi-Use Trail: In addition, the city was awarded a Safe Routes to School grant to construct a 10 feet wide multi-use trail in the County Ditch 1 easement from Greenwood Street to Edgewood Drive and from Edgewood Drive through a pedestrian easement to the east side of Franklin Middle School. A second trail would be constructed from Edgewood Drive to Spruce Avenue along the south side of Gulf Street. The proposed improvements would include common excavation, aggregate base, bituminous surfacing and ADA handicap ramp construction for this 10-feet wide 0.6-mile long multi-use trail.
